I think i like Digimon Savers…

I guess i do…

Ok, i watched Digimon Savers just because a tumblr post here sayed that was worth it give it a try and just skip the firts 13 episodies, as havent watched before that because well, everboddy sayed it was shit, and be kind of right.

So i watched all the Digimon Savers episodies, in japanese subs obiusly because is too damn painfull watch it even in my launght dub, when they normally do a good work but not on this one. And well, people was right the firts episodies can be really ackward/painfull to watch (one of the main guys have some sort of pedophile acting thing…is weird, is later explained in a way that have sence and yeah, is not a pedophile…but the firts episodies are weird…), some of those firts episodes feel like fillers, wich is weird considering that is the begining of the anime, should be excisiting, but nah, they be filled with cliches, too stupid and predectible ones.

But then, after that hell of episodies, come actually the plot and…is actually a quite interesting and close being good plot, the stupid gimickys stil going on (punching fire…) and the caracthers still being stupid…but the action, the story and so on, is actually pretty good, and have a loooot going on,like 100% dead digimons, like 3 ends of the world, human scientis, but also have too much going on…(aliens…)

I finish watched it, and still hated it, but after some time, leaving the thing settle in my mind, as find that theres stuff on it that i like actually, the art is pretty good dosent feel like generic-sale-you-somthing anime, have some pretty good upbeat songs (the opening is of the bests of digimon openings), and some caracthers are actually pretty good (Commander sammon, bauncholeomon, gaomon, Thomas, Keenan, even the damn girls who manage the machines), hell, the story as could have explore a lot of things!…

And thats the problem with Savers too

Theres a lot of good ideas going on here, since the intervention of humans in the digimon world and using technology on them, a damn police departament for digimon cases(that alone as could have being pretty great!), some caracthers backgrounds, so on, so on…but they never did! is a digimon season that as could have being for adults, but they never went full in the ideas, and caracthers keeped stuck in childish moods, there as could have being so much going on here…but never was.

And i guess thats why i like digimon Savers now, because the idea of all this as could have be, is not bad, is not good, is just…ok, and that what you end liking about it extrangely, just wish as could have being better.

I’ve had many people tell me over the years that they prefer Pokemon to Digimon because in Digimon, “they cry too much”. I think they’re missing the point. Digimon presents real stakes in the lives of children that barely reach the age of 12. Of course they’re going to cry, of course they’re going to fight and banter and despair. They’re thrust into an unknown world (or experience) where danger lurks at every corner and they have no to trust or rely on but themselves.Everything concerning the crests and individual traits reflect a deep introspective into the psychology of these children, as they fight against evil. In order to survive, they have to trust their digimon partner, but to evolve, they need to learn about their fears and weaknesses, overcoming them in a lonely and personal quest. The journey is tough, beyond petty fights to see who’s the best: it’s a story of friendship, of insurmountable courage, of inner strength, love, and responsibilities that no ordinary child could handle, but still manages to.
